Learn to Create
the Lasting Change You Seek

"The greatest discovery of my generation is that a human being can alter his life by altering his attitude."
— William James

Recognizing that something has to change, and being serious about making the changes necessary to achieve the success, relationships, and life you want, are critical first steps. However, they are just that — first steps.

So, how do you find out what needs to change? And once that question has been answered, how do you actually make the changes you need? Psychotherapy is a process that can help you answer these questions and facilitate creating change. But sometimes the thought of psychotherapy and change can be a little intimidating.

Confronting Our Fears
Doesn't Have To Be Done Alone

Feelings of inadequacy often lead us to try to hide our problems while thinking we will be able to work on our issues by ourselves. But when we're stuck we need help. And confronting our fear of asking for help is the first fear that needs to be overcome to create lasting change.

As Franklin Roosevelt once aptly remarked, "There is nothing to fear but fear itself." So, let me assure you... It is okay to need and ask for assistance. In fact, everyone, without exception, needs to know when and how to ask for help. And a professional therapist is trained to provide safety, compassion and understanding as you travel forward towards your goals.

Your Future Happiness
Is Worth Professional Assistance

"To understand and to be understood makes our happiness on earth."
— German proverb

When the problems we're facing seem serious enough, we have no choice but to ask for help. Many will confide in friends, family members or their partners. While asking for advice and help from these people is commendable, it rarely leads to lasting change. Instead, what we receive ends up being either mere support and encouragement, conflicting advice, or some proposed solution that just doesn't fit.

While the advice and support of those we care about may feel good in the moment, it is not the objective and sustained help necessary to face the subconscious patterns that are causing us to feel stuck. And it's definitely not the ongoing and professionally trained assistance necessary to change our perceptions and behaviors.

A professional therapist or psychologist has the training and experience to help you create the lasting change you seek. And the psychotherapy relationship between you and your therapist exists solely for this purpose. There is no bias, no confusion, no hidden agendas, only the objective and professional help you require and deserve.

When Inaction Is Worse
Than The Discomfort Of Change

"We cannot become what we need to be by remaining where we are."
— Max De Pree

We are usually prompted to seek therapy when we experience the pain of things not going well or the fear that they will get worse. As a psychotherapist, I help my clients determine the changes necessary to achieve their goals. Once the needed changes have been identified, we work together to effect those changes as quickly and easily as possible.

I am in no way trying to imply that creating lasting change is easy, as it rarely, if ever, is. However, working with an effective therapist or counselor can create lasting benefits in your life that far outweigh the difficulties of the work involved, let alone continuing to feel stuck in unhelpful patterns of perceptions and behaviors.

When you're ready to create change — be it finding the right work/life balance, improving communication skills, resolving marital conflict, effectively dealing with depression, overcoming mood or anxiety issues, or enhancing your relationships — I am here to help. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions. I look forward to speaking with you.
